Bauchi experiences seamless police recruitment exercise

By Samuel Luka

The Bauchi State Police Commissioner, Auwal Muhammad, has stated that the ongoing police constable recruitment process has encountered no issues. Yesterday, during his supervisory visit to the recruitment center in Bauchi, Muhammad warned officials and participants, urging them to refrain from engaging in acts of corruption that could tarnish the credibility of the exercise.

He mentioned that there is a standing rule prohibiting participants from carrying cash onto the recruitment premises.

“The essence is to ensure that there is no breach of protocol. We want all the processes to be adhered to as directed by the IGP, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, and the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, retired IGP Solomon Arase,” Muhammad stated.

He also assured that under his supervision, the recruitment process would be rigorous and transparent, ensuring that only the most qualified candidates are selected for the police force.

This year’s recruitment is being conducted collaboratively between the Inspector General of Police and the Police Service Commission, marking a shift from the usual contention between the two police authorities over who should oversee the recruitment of personnel.

Muhammad stated that the exercise would significantly address the weak numerical strength of the Nigerian Police Force.

“This is a very significant development, and we are committed to supporting the federal government, the IGP, and the chairman of the Police Service Commission to ensure that the recruitment process is corruption-free and straightforward,” he added.
