ADP promises to provide vibrant leadership in Kogi

The newly registered Action Democratic Party (ADP) has promised to provide the people of Kogi State with credible leadership capable of redeeming them from the grip of the present administration that they said has held them hostage in all spheres of life.
The protem State Chairman of the party, Dr Denja Abdul who gave the assurance at its maiden meeting in Lokoja, the state capital took a swipe at the system of governance being experienced in the Confluence State under the present APC administration.
The ADP stalwart who revealed the slogan of the party as “ADP!: One destiny” lamented that the existing political parties have used power conferred on them to oppress the masses, just as he noted that recent events in the country and Kogi State has proven that the promised ‘change’ has failed to materialise
While insisting that the three-week old party will ensure party supremacy and discipline, Dr Abdul submitted that gone are the days in which the elected party officials automatically become party leaders at the detriment of the party executives and the masses.
“We will revive what happened in the First Republic when leadership of the party was distinct from that of elected officials. The party is separate from government. The government supposed to utilise the manifesto of the party, while the party runs its affairs independently.
“But when this is derailed, the elected political office holders unfortunately become leaders and the result is confusion and heating up of polity which we have in the country today,” he lamented.
He expressed optimism in the successful outings of his party at both national and state levels, stating that the platform is a veritable means to restore hope to thousands of disillusioned Nigerians who have lost confidence in the nation’s political leaders which he described as being insincere to the progress of the country.
As a party whose manifesto is built on peaceful coexistence, Dr Abdul urged supporters to bear the present hardship as ADP has clear cut programmes to meet the needs of all sections of the society especially the elderly ones who he alleged have been sidelined in the present political arrangements in the state.
