At Aare Ona Kakanfo thanksgiving, Cleric charge leaders on good governance

It was a special church service of thanks-giving, prayers, soul-searching while for some it was also an occasion for merriment. The church service at the Celestial Church, Genesis Parish, Alakuko, Lagos State was met to appreciate God over the enthronement of Otunba Gani Adams, as the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yoruba land.

The church hall, it stairs and adjacent extensions outside was full to the brim, with hundreds of worshipers and guests, who had all come from within an outside the state, to grace the thanksgiving church service.

Pastor of the parish, Israel Oladele Ogundele Ogundipe in his sermon, noted that Nigeria was in its present precarious situation because its political leaders have failed to imbibe the fear of God, stressing that it was the fear of God that would discourage leaders from siphoning the treasure of the country, delivery good governance and be accountable to the citizenry.

Ogundipe advised Nigerians to shun unholy life style, unnecessary acquisition of wealth at the expense of others, stressing that when God was interested in promoting an individual, background or financial position was irrelevant.

The cleric added, that challenge in life was inevitable, especially if a man was to attain his heart desires, while stressing that the problem with most people was that they have failed to keep to the principles of God.

He said, “The fear of God is the genesis of good thing, when you have the fear of God you would be blessed and it would discourage you from doing bad thing. It is the fear that would make you manage public office and be responsive to the people.

“The fear of God is important, without the fear of God you would be in a mess and even if you find yourself in leadership position you would be misbehaving, the fear of God is important no matter how rich you are you have to humble yourself,” Ogundipe said.

Speaking earlier the Aare Ona Kakanfo praised God over his ascendancy to the exalted position inspite of opposition and challenge from other notable and wealthy Nigerians, while promising to use his position to promote the Yoruba nation, its cultural values and bring succour to the people.

He said the pastor Ogunipe was a true man of God, who had prophesied his ascendency to the exalted position of Aare Ona Kakanfo, inspite of challenge among more wealthy and influential Nigerians.

He said “I have been following the church and I have been following the pastor for years, it was the church I was before, I see the seal of God in him, God has given him power, there was a day he came to my old office, he told me he saw three vision for me, and one of them was that I was going to be an Aare Ona Kankanfo, all the three vision have all came to pass.

He was one of the people I consulted for prayers when I was aspiring for this position, and I told him if the vision came to pass his church would be the church I would give my first thanksgiving.

“And that is the reason I rolled on the floor when I entered the church, as a leader I know one must respect all religion in the country, am not new to church I use to attend church when I was young with my father before we enter the world.

My position as the Aare Kankafo is purely leadership, and I would strive to defend the interest of Yoruba nation. I have come to fight for you and promote the values of Yoruba.

“I thank you for today, this church is real and the man of God is ordained. It is one of the white garment church that respects the bible, any one that say there is God but does not respect the church is bad.

“I have seen pastors, but all of them cannot be like Pastor Genesis, we all have our job and it is different, we will be live in the secularity of the country and that is enshrined in the constitution.

“There are some people that may not go to church, but they fight for the interest of the people that give people, they help the less privileged, they give arms philanthropist.

So when God said yes who can say no. personally I do worship God, I wake up and pray often, prayer Is important as an individual you have to pray or you would not prosper, it is only God that know the way and he is the one that give and take, thank you for the support” Adams said.
