Police declares Ajuba, IPOB member wanted

The Police say it has continued a manhunt for a 45-year-old man, Ajuba Jerome Everest over his alleged involvement in the activities of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

Everest, born on August 2nd, 1976, is said to be one of the ringleaders of the IPOB in the Awkuzu Area of Anambra State.

However, he has been on the run after a deadly attack between security agencies and members of the now outlawed group.

Presently, the IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is standing trial before Justice Binta Nyako of a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.

Nigerian security forces have also in recent times intensfied action against the group, with the people of the South-East, the stronghold of the Biafra group, accusing the security agencies of mass murder of their youths.

It was gathered that sometime in January 2014, members of the IPOB, including Ajuba Jerome Everest were intercepted by security agencies during their meeting, a situation that degenerated, leading to the alleged killing of some of the freedom fighters and scores of others arrested.

A security source disclosed that Ajuba Jerome Everest and several others have been on the run ever since.

The senior security official stated that “no matter how long they run, we shall get them. They can’t get away with what they are doing in the name of freedom fighting.

“Their leader, Nnamdi Kanu ran away, but it did not take eternity and we got him back to face trial. It will be the same case with his members.”

Meanwhile, the IPOB leadership has continued to accuse security agencies of committing a mass murder of their members.

The group in a statement published on its official channels claimed that on the 20th of December, 2015, their members were murdered in Onitsha Anambra State.

It further alleged that, “on February, 9, 2016, six Biafran activists were killed at Aba, followed by another massacre by the Nigerian agents at Aba High School on November, 24. We lost 150 members, both men and women, including children.
