We can’t deploy 5G till 2025-Telecos

.Says Nigeria needs prevalence of 4G
.We are studying the situation-NCC
President of the Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ATCON), Mr Olusola Teniola has said Nigeria cannot deploy fifth-generation (5G) till 2025, noting that Nigeria cannot begin to roll out 5G until there is a prevalence of 4G.
While responding to a question on the call by the Senate to the Federal Government to suspend the planned deployment of 5G, Teniola, in a telephone interview with our correspondent on Sunday says the Senate has every right to investigate “what they is a contentious subject”.

He further adds that 5G is already in 538 cities around the world, noting that it is an addition to 4G. According to Teniola, there is a need to verify whether there is a substance to the claims and theories about 5G.
Also, in his reaction to the call by the Senate to suspend the planned deployment of 5G, the Director of Publicity, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Dr Henry Nkemadu told The Daily Times on Sunday that the NCC would comply with the decision of the Senate, adding that the commission was studying the situation.
“Whatever the Senate wants us to do, we will oblige. We will go and explain. We are still studying the situation. We will continue to ensure the safety of all citizens. Everything we are doing is in our(Nigerians) interest,” he said.
Recall that the Senate had last week asked the Federal Government to suspend the planned deployment of 5G network in Nigeria until the controversies triggered by the new technology is laid to rest.
In a motion sponsored by Senator Uche Ekwunife, the Senator had said the uncertainty on whether or not the “5G network has been launched in Nigeria will continue to fuel speculations concerning the deployment of the 5G network and its effects on the citizens of Nigeria.”
According to Ekwunife, several countries, including Switzerland, one of the world’s leaders in the roll-out of the 5G mobile technology, have placed an indefinite moratorium on the use of a 5G network because of its health hazards.
She further stated that the emissions from 5G towers could adversely affect the health of citizens by causing symptoms like damage to the eye, antibiotics resistance as well as other physiological effects on the nervous and immune systems.
