When the cloud is changing it affects the mood of people. The mood of the people is like a ten days rain. This creates gossips and rumour mongering in the office and the interpretations of gossips mayvary. It takes time to know what is next.
The boss has become a subject of discussion because everything is attributed to what people hear and discuss around the beer parlours or mechanic workshops. The revelation is that the boss is out of power and realignments are going on. This is practically human and typically Nigerian! The boss is dissected by his performance and relationships with people. For some, they will be in a sober mood and depressed for not going to have the opportunity to enjoy the boss again.
In many offices, office politics plays high. You can know those who love the boss and those who do not love him. Those he paid attention to can easily be seen by their behaviours and actions. On their faces, there are many stories to tell. Each person tells the story of his/her boss the way he/she wants to tell it. For others, realignment with the new boss is important. Some may say “If I didn’t get something from the old boss, I will get something from this new one”. Some might have jammed luck by enjoying the old and playing politics to enjoy the new one too. This is politics of survival in a zombie culture.
The politics of “that’s not the way we do it” can ensue. Those who do not like the way it was done can reverse the game by using the new boss to revive the old ways of doing things which may be detrimental to the state they are at present. They want to operate the old ways that will massage their interests. It is like the old boys coming up again like APC party coming onboard. Recycling of thoughts has no end. The society is very complex to really follow the right paths. It is like politics, following the path that suits one at the expense of the whole. When Lucifer fell out of power, he didn’t stay alone. He used the power to influence those who were on the same wave length of thoughts with him and formed a group like a political sect or party. Selfish people are not alone in their thoughts; they use their thoughts to influence others into their camps.
The boss that was seen to be unapproachable can be reviewed by his performance in the society or office. When the preconceived notion gives way to a new research, the boss is seen in a lighter perspective. Characterization has given way to seeing a man who has come to the society with a voice full of hope. It is those who mean well for the society that would recognize that voice that gingers hope, peace, justice and unity. The above is what a society needs to be happy and bring up their children to the fear of God. We hear a leader will inject positivity in every area of the society, liberating them from ethnic bigotries and give proper political education. Even though it will take time before a sense of optimism will emerge, bad reasoning and terrorist thoughts would give way to motivational way of doing things that would clear the gloomy cloud and usher in sunshine and hope. Today’s children are born in a rapid growing world created by technology. We can’t prevent them from joining what will bring them back to the 13th century through wrong alignments. E.g Changing the syllabus in school and removing the study of history.
Wrong realignment prevents growth because it is loaded with selfish motives. That is what is troubling Nigerian politics today. We see politicians cross carpeting and realigning in different political parties, because of new breed of powers and bosses. The problem we have in Nigeria is big political players that distort the real politics through frequent alignments and realignment. There is a continuous interest shifts which creates political amnesia. When you are selfish and desperate, you lack conscience and forget the people whom you convinced that you have power to improve their states of livelihood thereby making the common man a sacrificial lamb to a political miscalculation.
Politics has created lots of office errand boys. They behave like touts in motor parks. They pretend to be loyal to their political bosses while in real sense, they play eye service “oju-aye’ but still turn back to stab their bosses at the back as soon as they feel he is about leaving power or out of power. Everything in Nigeria is a game; profit and loss but everybody is trying to avoid a loss. To avoid a loss, you join a new alignment but only God knows where it will lead you to. When an office is created, everyone would like to align with the new boss for profit motive. You show an interest with the new man saying pleasant things that can serve asrecipe of acceptance to be on his side. Every time he is called for clarification of things since he has identified himself and the new boss will call him for anything both clean and dirty. Man feels satisfied for being called for information. The question is this: When are we going to stop being an office boy instead of being a real man and stop being vendors of fake news that will fetch us money?
The society should be aware of the duplicity of life that affects those in power because constant shifts lead to a drag in development. We should also be aware of those who have a voice of hope instead of those have voices of false hope because voice of false hope makes us victims of powergames. Politicians and the society in general, should not live on different set of rules and values. These are the causes of our problems in politics and social lives. When you are a political colossus, you think you have made it and can boss everybody and instill fear in people without knowing that power is for the upliftment of people and not to push fear in them.
