2019: Yuguda should contest Bauchi South senatorial seat, stakeholders insist

Former Bauchi State governor, Isa Yuguda has been called upon to contest for the seat of the Bauchi South Senatorial district of the state come 2019 general election.
The clarion call was made by a coalition of various political organisations, parties and trade unions in Bauchi State who besieged the guest house of the former governor along Bauchi Dass road.
The coalition said the call for the former governor to contest the senatorial seat became imperative in view of his enormous contributions to the growth and development of Bauchi State.
“Mallam Isa Yuguda should not only contest the Bauchi South senatorial seat come 2019 elections, but should equally lead other aspirants to various elective offices across the state in the forth-coming elections,” leaders of the coalition said.
They argued that only the former governor who ruled Bauchi State for eight consecutive years has the wire-withal to lead credible aspirants to various elective offices in the state under any political party of his choice.
They also want the former governor to select or breed a credible aspirant for the governorship of Bauchi State come 2019 polls, saying “We solemnly rely on Mallam Isa Yuguda for this tedious task”.
“We have every confidence that former Governor Yuguda who ruled the state for eight good years from 2007 to 2015 has in his ‘Think-Tank’ a credible governorship aspirant that could scale the hurdles of electoral processes to emerge victorious in the forthcoming elections.”
Receiving the coalition on behalf of the Baraden Bauchi, Alhaji Umaru Dahiru, a disciple of the former governor, Haruna S. Noma expressed delight with the visit, assuring that they will communicate the message to the former governor.
Malam Haruna Noma, described the supporters’ call as highly desirable coming at an appropriate time when the country need people like Isa Yuguda to salvage it from economic doldrums and political misfortunes.
Noma, also described former Governor Yuguda as a versatile politician, banker and businessman who, judging from his track records could facilitate the socio-economic and political transformation of Bauchi State.
“I am very optimistic that aspiring and subsequent election of Isa Yuguda into the Senate and his credible aspiring political team to various elective offices will see to the salvaging of not only Bauchi State, but Nigeria from unemployment and abject poverty afflicting the people, especially graduates of the various educational institutions,” he added.
Noma however expressed regret that Bauchi State has today found itself in soup with multifarious socio-economic problems arising from the influx of IDPs from parts of some North Eastern States without credible leadership that could punch on such problems.
“As a result of the IDPs influx from other states in the sub-region, Bauchi has its social amenities and infrastructural facilities such as roads, pipe-borne water, electricity, schools and health institutions, among others over-stretched with attendant turning out of unemployed school graduates,”
Malam Haruna Noma therefore stressed the need for Bauchi to have credible leadership with political will that could see to the establishment of industries, reviving existing ones and provision of enabling environment for investors that could invest in the state with a view to creating job opportunities and meeting the needs and aspirations of citizens.
The present ugly scenario, according to Noma, calls for the leadership of such credible people like former Governor Yuguda and an orientation tailored manifestoes of a party like the Green Party of Nigeria (GPN) to come to the rescue of the state.
Noma also observed that the popular support exhibited by the Bauchi people to the present APC administration in the state right from the 2015 electoral polling booths to date did not deserve the treatment meted to them, coupled with the attendant crippling of virtually every facet of development in the state.
