Alumni donate N10m for rebuilding hostel

Ex-students of Command Secondary School Jos, Plateau State, who graduated 25 years ago, came together in solidarity to join force in rebuilding one of the most dilapidated male hostels in the school.
The motivation of the alumni is geared towards providing safe accommodation for students haven passed through the system when it was still habitable, said President of the alumni, Demi Adeyomo.
Adeyomo, who spoke to our correspondent at the unveiling of the renovated hostel on Monday, said the 92 set tasked themselves with a little gesture from friends to come up with the said amount in executing the project.
“When the 92 set visited the school, we saw that the hostel was in a bad shape and this was not how we left it 25 years ago; we then said to ourselves that we have to do something to give it a facelift since government is reluctant in doing so”, he said.
The alumni president said the effort in rebuilding the hostel couldn’t have come at any time than now when the alumni association was making strides in alleviating some of the challenges the school is facing.
On his part, the Commandant of the school, Col. Haruna Hassan, while applauding the gesture, said Nigerians in all spheres of work should rise to the occasion in helping their alma mater.
