Anambra SWAN congratulates Umar on NFF appointment

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Anambra State chapter, on Friday, congratulated the Commissioner of Police in the state, Garba Umar, on his appointment as Security Adviser to the Super Eagles.
The appointment is deserving as the record showed that Umar is a seasoned sports administrator and security expert, a statement by Anthony Oji, Chimezie Anaso, chairman and secretary of SWAN said.
The association said that the decision taken by the NFF was a step in the right direction.
We are proud to identify with you as it is yet an attestation of your gallant and practical demonstration of your love for sports and its protection.
We view the appointment as most appropriate as the record shows you have a rich history in sports administration.
You had served as chairman of Nigeria Police Football Association and as chairman of NFF Security Committee at the 2010 World Cup in ad-hoc capacity, the association said.
SWAN also said as the Chief Detail of Team Nigeria to the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and other relevant positions, Umar was suitable for the job.
The body pledged to cooperate and support the Police Commissioner to promote sports and security in the country.
As a body of sports promoters in Anambra, we wish to once again congratulate you and express our readiness to work with you in the promotion of sports and security in the state and Nigeria in general,” SWAN said.
