Three notorious kidnappers that have made Abuja-Kaduna road dreadful for travellers and road users have been nabbed by the police.

The self-confessed kidnappers: Haruna Adamu, 25; Shaibu Adamu, 18; and Abubakar Saidu, 30, were arrested last week at Ungwan Kawu Village in Dan Dumi local government area of Katsina state.

Daily Times gathered that a high profile incident involving N10m ransom for the release of Hon. Sani Bello, a member of the House of Representatives compelled and aided the gang arrest.

Hon Sani Bello was kidnapped on August 2 this year, from his farm along Kaduna-Abuja road. He   regained his freedom on August 5 after three days of horror in the hands of the members of the gang.

Parading the three-member gang at the Police Headquarters Abuja over the weekend, the Force Public Relations officer, DCP Don Awunah said the violent gang were trailed and rounded up at Ungwan Kawu, Katsina State.

The suspects voluntarily confessed that they committed the offence and even gave details of their individual roles. They said that Sani was introduced to them by their “sponsor” who asked them to go after him.

They also admitted receiving a N10m ransom but claimed that each of them only got N1.5million while the rest of the sum went to their “sponsors” who are at large.

One of the suspects, Shaibu Adamu, 18, who the sum of N250,000 was recovered from by the police claimed the money was part of his share of the ransom. While regretting his actions, Shaibu said some members of his gang are living in the forest.

Though, Awunah told reporters not to believe the criminals narratives hook, line and sinker, he said Police is on the trail of those referred to as their “sponsors”.

According to Awunah, Shaibu led the police operatives to a location in the village where he buried part of the ransom N250,000 in a polythene bag.

The three suspects who are likely to be arraigned in court this week are assisting the Police to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang, Awunah said.
