Wolves had good game in spite of our loss—Sluis

Coach of Warri Wolves Football Club, Ard Sluis, on Sunday said his team had a good game against hosts FC IfeanyiUbah in spite of their 0-1 loss in Nnewi.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Maduabuchi Okereke’s goal from a goalmouth scramble in the 58th minute earned the home side the win against the Warri-based visitors.
The match was a 2015/2016 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Match Day 12 fixture.
FC IfeanyiUbah’s attack led by Bright Onyedikachi gave the visitors’ defence line a run for their money and kept them busy all day.
Speaking after the match, Sluis said they had put the game behind them and were now focused on the challenges ahead in the league.
“I think we played a good game and tried to apply the best principles. But that is football. You win some and you lose some,” he said.
Also speaking after the game, Warri Wolves’ captain, Goodluck Ochoneyi, said the outcome of the match would not affect their fortunes in the league.
Ochoneyi however described the loss as a great one to him and his teammates.
“Well, it’s not that I am not happy, but we lost so much in this game.
“However, the league is a marathon and this game will not affect our position in the end. I still believe we will win the league,’’ he said.
On his part, the Head Coach of FC IfeanyiUbah, Mitko Dobrev, said it was satisfactory that they have continued to record good home results.
Dobrev however acknowledged that the game was not an easy one for his team as the Warri Wolves were a strong side.
