We ‘ll synergies with stakeholders, give Nigerians democratic dividends – House C’ttee Chair

The House of Representatives Chairman, Committee on Aviation Technology, Thomas Erieyitomi has stated that the Committee will synergies with stakeholders in the sector to give democratic dividends to Nigerians.
Speaking at the inaugural meeting of the Committee at the National Assembly on Tuesday, Erieyitomi said the Committee, “will seriously engage and synergize with our stakeholders to give Nigerians the democratic dividend of a highly innovative and productive Aviation industry.”
He said: “It’s my singular pleasure to welcome you all, to the maiden meeting of this brand new Committee.
“I congratulate each and every one of us for the electoral victory in the last general elections and our selection into this very important Committee of the House, at this crucial time.

“We recall that the 10th Assembly was inaugurated on 13th June 2023; and in line with the Standing Order of the House, our Speaker, Rep Tajudeen Abbas, constituted the leadership of the Special/Standing Committees and one of which is the House Committee on Aviation Technology.
“May I humbly, appreciate the Speaker and his leadership team for the confidence reposed in us in selecting us as members of this Committee.
“You will agree with me that the quality of members we have, shows the seriousness, the House leadership attaches to this Committee and the expectation, high.
“As we all know, this Committee is a newly created Committee, carved out of the existing Committee on Aviation.
It is a hi-tech driven Committee with so much expectations from us. We dare not fail the House, Nigerians and our stakeholders.”
The Chairman revealed that a work plan has been drawn out, to guide the team in the journey ahead saying, “go through it and come up with constructive inputs to help us chart our course.”
He said the Committee is charged with overseeing the Air Safety Services at Airports, (NSIB); oversight over Schools of Aviation, oversight over Aviation Institutions, oversight over Metrological Services (NIMET) and Annual Budget estimates.
Other function he said is to oversight the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, (NCAT).
The Chairman also, pledged, on behalf of his deputy, Rep Yahaya Sulieman Richifa, to run an all-inclusive open administration, where every member is equal, and shall be treated as such.
“Also, the Committee Clerk and the Secretariat will be empowered to function optimally.
“We will leave no stone unturned in the discharge of our responsibilities, or any other matter referred to it by bringing our various competences to bear on every issue.
“On this note, I urge every member to join hands with us to make this Committee not only productive but a toast among the House Committees of the 10th Assembly,” he added.
