Warn youths against divisive activities, NGO tells parents

A non-governmental organisation, Project Nigeria First has advised parents and guardians to warn their children against engaging in activities that threaten the peace and unity of the country.

Mr Uche Nwabukwu, National Coordinator of the organisation made the call on Wednesday in Abuja at a news conference.

Making reference to developments in the South Eastern part of the country, he harped on the need to provide the youths in the region a sense of direction.

He also called on the state governors in the region to work with traditional and religious leaders to pacify sympathisers of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), especially youths.

He commended the Federal Government and state governments for the proactive measures taken to prevent crisis in the region arising from IPOB activities.
He said the development went a long way in curbing the activities of IPOB and preventing a breakdown of law and order in the region.

Nwabukwu further called on the Federal Government to re-orientate Nigerians on values and patriotism through the National Orientation Agency, civil society groups and relevant organisations.

He also called on Nigerians to join hands with the Federal Government in promoting unity and progress of the country.

He warned against the circulation of unverified video clips and divisive text messages on IPOB, saying “since the authenticity of some of these videos cannot be ascertained, we appeal to Nigerians to desist from spreading them.’’

Project Nigeria First claims it is a national movement poised to inspire patriotism, unity and nation development.(NAN)
