WAEC releases WASSCE results, records poor performance

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has released the 2019 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results for private candidates, 2019-fiest series, recording poor performance in English Language and Mathematics.
Head of the Nigeria National Office of WAEC, Mr. Olu Adenipekun, who disclosed this to newsmen on Tuesday in Lagos said that only 26 percent of students who sat for the examination passed.
According to him, 3,102 out of the 12,202 candidates that registered for the examination obtained credit in English language and general Mathematics, as well as in at least four other subjects.
Adenipekun also said that the exam which was written in on February 4, 2019, has the results of 11,686 candidates fully processed and released.
He said that although 12,202 registered for the exam, only 11,892 sat for the examination.
According to Adenipekun, while 4,314 candidates obtained credit and above in five subjects, 8,782 candidates obtained credit and above in two subjects.
Adenipekun also said that 7,332 candidates obtained credit and above in three subjects while 5,850 candidates obtained credit and above in four subjects.
He said few of the results of at least 206 candidates are still being processed due to errors that arose from the registration process by the candidates.
According to him, “A total of 3,102 candidates obtained credit and above in a minimum of five subjects including English language and general Mathematics,” he said.
