Unveiling the PDP in APC

Since the advent of the Buhari administration, government, the public has been inundated with complains of misdeeds committed by the PDP against the country in 16 years as ruling party. This has been in stark disregard of those that made up the PDP administrations at at various times.
The APC government is selling this dummy to gullible Nigerians, which many have bought completely. They never bother to ask “Whom” was/is the PDP to which all the ills of the Nigeria have been attributed.
For now, the PDP is the only surviving party of the three parties registered by the military government of Abdulsalami Abubakar in 1998. The other two were All Peoples Party (APP) that later became All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), one of the legacy parties that made up the APC and Alliance for Democracy (AD) which is now moribund.
PDP like a company is a child of law and legality brought to being by natural persons. It can be decreed or legislated out of existence by the same persons. It is therefore sensible to look through the bounds of parties to those that populated them at different points in time.
The process by which the court and the public look through the veil of corporate secrecy to know the human faces behind such entity is known as “Lifting the Veil”. This article meant to unveil the real PDP behind APC.
Let us begin with Ex- President Olusegun Obasanjo whose life was given a big turnaround by PDP. He was the President of Nigeria for eight years on that platform. He is installed his two successors. He may not have publicly declared for APC but is now a strong supporter of Buhari administration.
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Vice President under Obasanjo for eight years, a perennial presidential aspirant and now an APC chieftain. Dr. Bukola Saraki, the Senate President (APC) was the PDP governor of Kwara State for eight years and a Senator for four years.
Yakubu Dogara, a PDP defector and now the APC Speaker of the House of Representatives.
In addition, out of 17 northern APC governors, 12 were of PDP stock. Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, a former PDP speaker of the House of Representatives, is now APC Governor of Sokoto State.
Similarly, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari, former PDP speaker of the House of Reps, is APC governor of Kastina State. Other PDP defectors now governors are – Alhaji Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State, Umar Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State, Mallam Nasir El-rufai of Kaduna State, Alhaji Abubakar Badaru of Jigawa State, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar of Bauchi State, Abubakar Bello Sani of Niger State, Umar Jubrila Bindow of Adamawa State, Simon Dalong of Plateau State.
Mr. Samuel Ortom, the immediate past Minister of State for Trade and Investment under Ex-President Jonathan now APC governor of Benue State and Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, a first term PDP governor of Kwara state and now second term APC governor.
Besides, the unsuccessful APC gubernatorial candidates in Gombe and Taraba States are still from PDP. In addition, the APC governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha moved from PDP to APGA before ending up in APC.
In addition, the failed APC governorship candidates of Abia, Akwa Ibom, Ebonyi, Enugu, Bayelsa and Rivers States – Dr Nyezere Anyim, Umana Umana, Dr. Steve Egbo, Okey Ezea, Timipre Sylva and Dakuku Peterside respectively, were all card carrying PDP chieftains.
In the Senate, George Akume, a two-term governor of Benue State on the platform of PDP is now an APC senator. Danjuma Goje, Another two term PDP governor of Gombe, is now APC Senator. Abdulahi Adamu currently an APC Senator was a two term PDP governor of Nasarawa State. So also, are Wamako, Kwanwaso and Amaechi, all two-term governors of Sokoto, Kano and Rivers states and now APC senators and minister respectively. The list is endless.
With this, it could be said without fear of contradiction that, while ACN in APC secured the Presidential ticket of APC for Buhari, it was the PDP in APC that won the Presidential election for APC. This is a fact.
Whatever has become of this country since the advent of the current democratic experiment has been made possible by the political class, which cuts across party lines? The next time an APC chieftain tries to tell you that the woes of this country were caused by the PDP, the appropriate answer is to borrow the Peak Milk advert; “It’s in you” because PDP is in APC.
