Unknown Assailant attack Abia State University Female Hostel

The female students residing in the Emergency Hostel G of Abia State University are currently traumatized as unknown assailant attacked some parts of the hostel.

The students who narrated their ordeal told Daily Times that the attackers stormed the hostel at about 2 a.m, robbing occupants of about 5 rooms before leaving.

A 200l student residing in the hostel, further told our reporters that the attackers numbering about 5 gained access to the hostel through the window of the first room. The ordered the students to give up their phones, laptops, ATM cards and other valuables.

No student was reported injured or hurt from the attack.

Another Student, Ijeoma, recalled that this is not the first time the hostel is being attacked. She added that similar attack had occurred and the school authorities had played deaf ears to their cries even after visiting the scene and promising to improve the security within the hostel.

She also lamented the poor living conditions of the hostel. Adding that students lack access to electricity, portable water and have to patronize water vendor for their daily water needs, also, cockroaches, rats, snakes and other dangerous animals always visited as a result of the poor sanitary condition of the hostel.

Some of the students who were seen packing from the hostel to private accommodation outside the school, stated that they have become fade up with the condition in the hostel as both the SUG and school authorities have done nothing to resolve lingering issues despite the huge amount paid as Hostel Fee and SUG dues.

Daily Times gathered that school authorities stormed the scene alongside school security after the assailant had flee the scene.

Attempts to get across to the school authorities to comment on the issue of insecurity within the hostel and environmental conditions proved abortive as phone lines were not been answered.
