Thugs wreck havoc in Mbiaso Ward 5, Akwa Ibom

…Party members flee ward in droves
Thugs suspected to be sponsored by the PDP, last night allegedly abducted and killed an APC agent, Mr Udoma Udoma Ubom aka “Akwa” in Mbiaso Ward 5, Nsit Ibom LGA of Akwa Ibom State.

According to some eye witnesses, trouble started when some leaders of the APC in the Ward got wind of plans by some PDP leaders in the to unleash mayhem in today’s governorship election just like what happened during the last presidential and National Assembly elections .

In order to stop the PDP on its track, some APC leaders were said to have brought in the police to arrest some members of the PDP earlier in the night.

However, instead of the police action restraining the PDP from any unwholesome action, that actually drove them mad as they recovered from their initial shock to stage a commando-like violence against some key APC elements in the ward. Wielding different kinds of lethal weapons like matchetes, guns, cudgels, etc, they delared war on the people.

A report by an APC stalwart said instance, apart from Mr Udoma who was abducted in his village, Afaha Ikot near the State College of Education in Afaha Nsit where he was tortured and brutalised with his lifeless body only seen in the street in the morning around one of the two locations where the police made some arrests, one Mr Usen Utin, an APC leader in unit 007 where arrests were also made was manhandled by the rampaging PDP goons.

Utin only escaped by the whiskers into a nearby bush but his home was vandalised with many of his properties destroyed.

Another victim of the PDP madness was yet another APC leader by name Mr Michael Friday Isaiah who was riding a motorcycle belonging to his friend, one Mr Gibson James.

Isaiah was not only brutalised but his friend’s bike was set ablaze.

One Mr Imo Dan Udoh from unit 007 in Ikot Akpaetang village another strong APC member in the village was also stabbed by the hoodlums and is currently receiving treatment in a nearby facility.

Also the APC Ward Chairman, Mr Ime Browbson was not spared. The thugs visited his house and left in their trail tears of blood and destruction.

All these are beside a great many APC members across the ward who had to run into nearby bushes for dear life on sighting the PDP miscreants.

The action of the PDP leaders and their thugs presented the People of Mbiaso Ward five with an unprecedented shock as most of those who spoke to this reporter where wondering how a mere police arrest could be responded to by the PDP in the ward with such daring, impunity and murderous aplomb.

As one retired civil servant in the area who never wanted his name mentioned as he was gripped by palpable fear put it, “why are these people acting like this?, we learnt some of their friends were arrested last night and they returned to do this.”

All efforts to reach the Divisional Police Officer of Nsit Ibom LGA proved abortive as he was believed to have been out on election duty since early today while his phone was not going through.
