Threats To Life: Man Rejects Olokun Deity, Flees With Family

A man identified as Jeffery Oyedoh has reportedly abandoned elders of his community in Uromi in Edo State and fled with his family to an unknown location after he refused to accept the custodian of an ancestral deity referred to as “Olokun to become the new chief priest.
Jeffery Oyedoh’s father until his death on April 28th 2012 had been the chief priest and custodian of the Olokun deity .
However after his father’s death, the elders of the community prevailed on him as the eldest son to take up the new role as the new chief priest as custom and tradition demands but he declined the offer insisting that his faith in Christ Jesus was completely at variance with the worship of a traditional deity.
It was said that the elders of the community conspired to make him the new chief priest as the vacuum created by the demise of his father needed to be occupied within a period of time in order to avert evil omen and doom befallen the community.
Secretly amongst the elders, the sinister plot to forcefully make him the chief priest of the community thickened as Jeffery Oyedoh received several death threats from elders and youths of the community who vowed to eliminate him and his should any evil doom befall them in the community, it was confirmed.
Our correspondent gathered that in the face of obvious threats to his life, Jeffery Oyedoh abandoned his place of birth in Uromi by running away to a different location where the threats continued as his home and personal belongings were set ablaze by unidentified persons in 2016 while he was at work in Rivers State..
He however started a family with his wife and had two children whom his elders requested come with for the mandatory traditional induction which involves dedicating the children to evil deity under the river in Uromi to which rejected outright, it was gathered.
While in Port-harcourt in River State, it was said that he went into hiding with his family after some unknown fesrsome gunmen trailed him to his apartment where they threatened to eliminate him and every member of his household if her refused to perform every traditional rites into becoming the new custodian and chief priest of the Olokun deity in Uromi.
Recent findings by our correspondent revealed that Jeffery Oyedoh with his family had again abandoned his home by fleeing from Port-Harcourt in Rivers in view of the mounting pressure from his elders while gun-wielding criminals under the guise of unknown gunmen continue to harras and terrorize his family with threats in Rivers State.
