Telecom companies, others not tax compliant – FIRS

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has disclosed that the telecommunications companies operating in Nigeria are not tax compliance.
The Executive Chairman of FIRS, Mr. Tunde Fowler stated this in Kano during a National Revenue Retreat organised by the Federal Ministry of Finance.
According to the tax collecting agency boss, companies in the telecommunications sector are among the five sectors in the country that are yet to pay their expected taxes, adding that FIRS would soon go after them to enforce regulations.
“The telecommunication sector is among the sectors that are not paying the right taxes,” Fowler informed journalists.
Fowler revealed that the service has able to capture 700,000 existing companies that are not paying taxes in the country, adding that FIRS is making plan to improve the number of companies that would pay tax
