Taraba partners World Bank to improve health care

Taraba State Government, in its determination to render quality health care delivery services to all nooks and crannies of the State is partnering with the World Bank to achieve its noble objectives. The Executive Secretary (ES), Primary Health Care Development Agency (PHCDA), Alhaji Aminu Jauro Hassan stated this while fielding questions from journalists in Jalingo. Hassan said the State government under the leadership of Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku has paid $200,000 as counterpart fund while World Bank would provide $17 million. According to him, the World Bank $17 million assisted fund would be under the coffers of the World Bank and can only be released based on proposals, needs and through a dedicated Account to the State. The ES further disclosed that for the past eight to ten years, no case of poliomyelitis has been recorded in any part of the State, attributing the success story to the commitment and consistency in the payment of Counterpart Funds by Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku. While describing the Governor as having the passion for the Heath care needs of the people of the State, Alh. Hassan revealed that Taraba State has been contributing to the success story of polio eradication across the Country. “Taraba has developed a lot of mechanisms in trying to ensure that all children across the State were properly vaccinated or immunized in their various localities”, “Since Governor Ishaku came on board in 2015, he has employed the services of health workers from various communities to lessen the health challenges of those living in Hard to Reach Areas”, he said. The Executive Secretary added that the Governor has given the Agency express approval to sign an MOU with the Federal Ministry of Health, Federal Ministry of Finance and World Bank towards coming out with a Concept that would elevate the health sector in the State. He informed that Taraba State Government has given the agency an express approval to collaborate with UNICEF and the Canadian Government to actualize the Hard to Reach Projects initiated to deliver free health delivery services to the most vulnerable people of the State.
