Taekwondo Federation grades athletes in Kebbi

The Taekwondo Federation of Nigeria (TFN) has conducted a two-day grading of athletes and coaches in Kebbi as part of efforts to develop the sport in the state.
The President of the federation, Ashiru George, presided over the grading at the Halliru Abdu Mini Staduim in Birnin Kebbi.
He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that athletes, coaches and other officials also participated in a seminar during the exercise.
George said the federation in collaboration with the Kebbi Taekwondo Association jointly organised the seminar and the grading.
“The association had demonstrated enthusiasm for the development of the game at the grassroots.
“The grading and seminar were part of cost-saving measures unlike in the past when athletes and coaches were assembled in Lagos or Abuja for the exercise,” George added.
He promised that the federation would assist the state with training kits and other facilities.
The President of the association, Alhaji Abdullahi Saidu, was graded a third degree red belt holder, while six others who participated in the seminar were trained on taekwondo tactics, rules and regulations.
The state’s Director of Sports, Alhaji Ladan Usman, commended the federation for the gesture, pledging to attract more athletes to the game.
The Chairman of the association, Abdullahi Saidu, promised to improve the game and win medals for the state at both national and international competitions.
