S’East Council of Traditional rulers warns former chairman, Ilomuanya, affirms Dick
The South East Council of Traditional Rulers has warned the general public to desist from transacting any business with Eze Cletus Ilomuanya as the chairman of the council or addressing him as such as he ceased to be the chairman of the South East Traditional Rulers Council when his tenure expired.
A statement by the Administrative Secretary of the council, Eze (Barr.) Uche O Elekwa (JP), said Cletus Ilomuanya is neither the chairman nor a member of the South East Council of Traditional Rulers and anyone transacting business with him as the chairman does so at his own peril, stressing that HRM Eze (Dr.) Eberechi N Dick is the incumbent chairman of the South East Council of Traditional Rulers.
The statement reads: “The attention of the South East Council of Traditional Rulers has been drawn to the front page publication of a national daily paper (not The Daily Times) titled “Igbos won’t leave north, says south east traditional rulers chairman” in which Eze Cletus Ilomuanya was credited to have spoken as chairman, South East council of Traditional Rulers in Owerri, Imo State at two different events on 30th June 2017 while receiving Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth Council (OYC) Imo State branch and Association for Media Communication Development which conferred on him “Distinguished Royal Father Award” for exemplary conduct and leadership.
While we do not begrudge him for expressing his opinion on national issues but we are at pains that he was quoted as the Chairman of South East Council of Traditional Rulers.
“For the records, Cletus Ilomuanya ceased to be the chairman, South East Council of Traditional Rulers when his tenure expired”, the release said.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the South East Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Eberechi Dick has condoled with the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the government and people of Kano State over the death of frontline nationalist and statesman, Alhaji Maitama Sule at age of 87 years.
In a condolence letter to the Emir, Eze Dick described the late Alhaji Sule as a stabilising influence in Nigeria and a man who is detribalised.
‘’We will surely miss him at this time but give God thanks for allowing us share same space with him for 87 years.
He on behalf of himself and members of South East Traditional Rulers Council prayed that God will give the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
