Royal International, others boost T/Tennis in CRS

Royal International Farms and Estates limited, First Royal Microfinance Bank and Triple Star Printing Press Limited have donated modern standard table tennis board and other equipment valued at N700, 000 to Cross River State at the maiden Primary/Secondary Schools Table Tennis Championship that held between February 8th – 10th 2017.

Over one hundred schools participated in the competition.

Speaking with our correspondent, the Chairman of the Cross River State Sports Commission, Hon Orok Otu Duke said the sponsors of the competitions, Royal International Farms and Estates limited, First Royal Microfinance Bank and Triple Star Printing Press Limited responded in kind and procured the table tennis for the commission.

The Table tennis board are quiet expensive, it is the latest model and is sold at about N700, 000 and donated to us for the Primary/Secondary table tennis competition in Calabar Metropolis.

“The state is one of the leading states when it comes to table tennis tournaments. For the past 18 years, we have been dominating in national and international championships particularly in female categories. Offiong Edem and Janet Effiom are in Portugal and at the last national tournament, a Cross River State indigene Cecilia Otu won. We have 3 out of the 4 national and Africans players from this country, Offiong Edem, Cecilia and Funke”.

Speaking on behalf of the donors, the General Manager Royal International Farms and Estates limited Bishop Usen Umoh stated that the making of successful children tomorrow is predicated on giving the children the right kind of education today. He said, education is described as the total process of human learning by which knowledge is imparted, faculties trained and skills developed. And as we are all aware, sports and physical education are collectively considered integral part of quality education.
