The All Progressives Congress (APC), and the Accord Party (AC), in Rivers State have accused the governor of the state Barrister Nyesom Ezebunwo Wike of using the court to stop his political opponents from participating in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

Spokesman for the APC in Rivers State, Mr. Chris Finebone, told journalists in Port Harcourt that the party was not surprised at the outcome of the ruling of the State High Court which disqualified the AC candidate, Dumo Lulu Briggs, from participating in the governorship race of March 9, 2019 in the state.

According to Finebone, “We are not surprised that Wike has once again purchased a curious ruling of the court from the judicial supermarket.

“This is exactly the agenda he pursued against the APC; first directly, then later he came out in the open to do so. Yesterday, it was the APC; today it is the Accord Party. But just watch and see how his downfall will come. It will defy all known logic and expectations,” the Rivers State APC spokesman declared.

In the same vein, the Dumo Lulu Briggs Campaign Organisation also accused Governor Wike of sponsoring the court case to remove its governorship candidate, Mr. Dump Lulu Briggs, from contesting in the election.

A statement issued by the Director of Communicatios of the Dumo Lulu Briggs Campaign Organisation, Mr. Sotonye Ijuye-Dagogo, said the campaign organisation has filed an appeal and a stay of execution on the matter.
