Registration of foreigners: Immigration Service partners ANSG

Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has restated its readiness to partner Anambra State government for proper registration of foreigners in the state.

Anambra State Comptroller of Immigration, Mrs. Tochukwu Agwai, disclosed this while addressing journalists after her brief meeting with Governor Willie Obiano.

Mrs. Agwai explained that the Service had commenced registration of all foreigners to be properly monitored and taken care of, when necessary.

“There is an ongoing E-registration and documentation throughout the federation now.

So all non-Nigerians residing in Anambra State should come to the commission in Awka for documentation. It will end in January next year, after which will become an offence when caught,” Mrs, Agwai highlighted.

Addressing the issue of shortage of booklets, the State Comptroller noted that the Service had finalised plans to localise production of International passports.

According to the Immigration boss in Anambra, the initial shortage of booklet challenge faced by travelers was because they were being produced abroad.

Mrs. Agwai urged travelers seeking for international passports and other travel documents to deemphasise patronising travel agents for procurement, but to commence early to process their documents with the service so as to avoid making mistakes in a hurry.
