Reactions as Federal Government makes new announcement on NIN registration

Recall that the federal government of Nigeria ordered Telecommunications companies to deactivate all Sim cards that are not registered or linked with the national identification number (NIN).

However, some Nigerians who haven’t enroll for the NIN are still struggling to have it and also link it with their Sim cards to prevent it from being deactivated.

The federal government also launched a mobile app to make enrollment easier and also reduce crowds in enrollment centers across the country.

Following the ongoing registration of NIN, the federal government has released a new announcement via the national Identity management commission (NIMC) official twitter account on Wednesday 27th of January, 2021.

The federal government announced that the former national Identity Card has been discontinued, urging the citizens to enroll for the national identification number (NIN).

According to the announcement, ” The old National Identity Card has been discontinued, kindly enroll for your NIN today”.
