Police, hoodlums in heavy shootout in Enugu, two dead

Tension was high in Enugu State, on Wednesday, following a gun duel involving nine suspected armed robbers, who raided several parts of the state.

The operation which lasted for several hours started in the early hours of the day.

Some motorists plying the affected routes had in frantic bid to make a detour, crashed their vehicles, while others abandoned their cars and scampered for safety.

It was gathered that the hoodlums had attacked a location within the New Market axis of the metropolis before moving to the Obiagu Roundabout, popularly called Council, where they shot and killed a driver.
