Plateau Crisis: PDP renews’ Danjuma’s call for self defence

…calls for Lalong’s resignation
The People Democratic Party (PDP), in Plateau State, on Tuesday renewed call for the Plateau people to defend themselves amidst the ongoing gruesome murder of innocent citizens that has persisted unabated.
The opposition Party in the State has also called for the resignation of Governor, Simon Lalong, stating his inability to protect its citizens which is his primary responsibility.
The PDP who spoke through its State Chairman, Hon. Damishi Sango, made the call in a press conference held at the Party’s secretariat while reacting to the reoccurring killings that has become a trend in the State.
Sango said, “With the aim to completely wipe us out from the face of the earth, I therefore ask, how do you fault General T.Y Danjuma’s position that people and communities should rise in self defence.
“Any government that does not provide security and welfare for the people has failed and should vacate office; this is the case with the present government in the State.
“It is a known fact that the State has known no peace in the past two years: parts of Bassa, Riyom, Barakin Ladi and Bokkos have remained under siege without any abetment, yet what the Lalong-led administration and it’s cohorts have consistently told the world is that peace is the best thing that has happened to the people and the land since its inauguration.
“To confirm their position as a people with conscience deficit, at times when they needed to cry out to their benefactors that all was and is not well, they had gone out dancing naked in the public square singing ‘peace’, ‘peace’, where none existed.
“What we have witnessed on the part of the Governor is dead conscience on matters affecting the land and its people and the sustained pursuit of recognition that has remained elusive.
“Lalong and his sponsors were exposed on Saturday and Sunday, June 23 and 24, 2018 when terrorists laid siege on communities in Gashish, Razak, Ruku, Soi, Ngar, Gana-Ropp all in Barkin Ladi Local Government and Shonong in Riyom Local Government, leaving on their trail over 200 dead persons and several injured, including children, women and houses burnt down.
“To confirm their failure, a single arrest is yet to be made even after 48 hours of killings and this leaves room for suspicious of complicity”, the State PDP Chairman said.
