PLASIEC releases timetable for LG elections

The Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC), has released the timetable for the much awaited 2018 Local Government Elections in the state.

In a statement signed by PLASIEC Chairman, Fabian Ntung, the commission said, “The dates for the election have now been fixed for Saturday 17th February, 2018 and Runoff/Re-run (if any) will hold on Saturday 24th February, 2018.”

A breakdown of the timetable however, shows that campaigns are to commence from Friday 29th September, 2017, while the conduct of party primaries by political parties are to hold from 13th-27th October, 2017.

Our correspondent reports that the verification/screening of chairmanship candidates will hold from 13th-15th November, 2017, while the verification/screening of councillorship candidates has been slated for 16th-20th November, 2017 and the end to all forms of electioneering campaign is slated for Friday 16th February, 2018.
