PDP Congress: Lawmaker calls for level-playing field

As the congress of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) draws nearer, a chieftain of the party in Oyo State, Hon. Segun Dokun Odebunmi has called for a level-playing field to all interested parties.

The party chieftain believed that this would enhance the sustenance of the principle of democracy within the party.

Odebumi, a federal lawmaker representing Ogo-Oluwa/Surulere Federal constituency at the national assembly said initiating such principles and policies will help the party to restore back the dignity and confidence of people in the party.

The lawmaker, in an interactive session with journalists in Ogbomoso, expressed optimism that the PDP will not collapse but will wax stronger and regain its potent to win subsequent elections in the future.

“If at the party level we can initiate and maintain a democratised structure where all and sundry are involved in the selection process, many of those who have left the party would come back and work for the victory of the party” he said.

Hon. Odebunmi, who is also the Chairman, Committee on Information, National Orientation Ethics and Value, said the Acting Chairman of the Party Sen. Ali Modu Sherrif is working seriously to restore the party’s glory.

“Within the short time he had  been  in the position, the former Borno State governor has taken a serious  effort  at reconciling aggrieved party members and winning many other people back to the party” he noted.
