Osimhen was Barca’s first choice to replace Suarez

A member of Victor Osimhen’s management team, Roberto Calenda, has claimed that Barcelona had hoped to pry Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen to the Nou Camp in a move that was designed to replace aging Uruguayan attacker, Luis Suarez.
The 21-year old sealed a five-year deal believed to be worth up to €80 million from Lille to Napoli, having enjoyed a spectacular first season in France where he netted 18 competitive strikes.
Osimhen hit the ground running by scoring a hat-trick and providing 2 assists in an 11-0 friendly win over Italian fourth division side L’Aquila during a training camp at Castel di Sangro last Friday.

Meanwhile, Goal reports that Juventus are ready to step up their interest in Barcelona’s Luis Suarez after moves for other attacking options stalled, according to Gazetta Dello Sport.
The Old Lady are keen to add a striker to their squad this summer and were hoping to land Edin Dzeko from Roma, but the deal has been held up because talks over the Giallorossi’s intended replacement, Arkadiusz Milik of Napoli, have also stalled.
The hold up has prompted Juve to consider other alternatives, with Suarez now high on their shortlist after he was told he could leave Barca by new gaffer, Ronald Koeman.
