Ondo police rescue abducted groom, other kidnap victims

The Ondo state police said it has rescued an abducted groom, Moses Yakubu, who was kidnapped last week by some suspected gunmen.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Femi Joseph, revealed this to journalists in Akure on Sunday.
Mr. Joseph explained that Yakubu was rescued inside the forest allegedly being used as hideout by the kidnappers in the Oba Akoko area of the state at the weekend.
He disclosed that the groom was freed alongside his best friend, Mark Yinusa, by the security operatives from the den of the kidnappers.
He added that the rescued victims have been united with their various families, noting that the police will continue to perform its job.
“They have been rescued by our men inside the Oba Akoko bush although we are currently on the trail of the suspects. Let me assure you that we shall get them.”
The Daily Times recalled that Mr. Yakubu was kidnapped last weekend while on his way to an engagement ceremony with his fiancée in Akure, the Ondo state capital.
He was abducted on the rough road of Akunnu in the Akoko North East Local Government Area of the the state.
The victim, together with his friends and some family members, were traveling to Akure from Kogi state for the wedding event when they were abducted.
