Ondo APC Accuses Mimiko, Chief Judge, Of Secret Employment Into The State Judiciary

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has accused Governor Olusegun Mimiko and the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Olasehinde Kumuyi of proliferating the state Judiciary and the civil service with secret employment of over 250 workers and 100 Magistrates in the last two weeks.

The party claimed that Justice Kumuyi who is due to retire on the 20th January, 2017, was reliably gathered carried out the exercise without due process.

It disclosed this in a press statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Omo’ba Abayomi Adesanya, and issued to journalists in Akure, the State capital at the weekend.

Adesanya alleged that Justice Kumuyi had secretly recruited over 250 judicial workers and 100 Magistrates since 8th of December, 2016.

“We are perturbed and seriously worried by the sorry state of the judiciary in the State, under the watch of Justice Olasehinde Kumuyi.

“He has degraded this sacred arm of government, in the State, to a mere market place. A situation where three to four Magistrates are occupying just a single room and parlor rented apartment as court room is absurd and totally unacceptable”.

He said that the Judiciary – the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), High Courts, Magistrate and Rent Tribunal, under the direct control and Supervision of Hon. Justice Olasehinde Kumuyi, (the Chief Judge of Ondo State), must be investigated.

The party called on the Judicial Service Commission of enquiry to investigate, thoroughly, all cases handled by the Chief Justice of the state, throughout his tenure as the Chief Justice of the state.

It said it was also aware of the alleged N500 million mansion of the Chief Judge of Ondo State, Hon. Justice Olasehinde Kumuyi in Alagbaka, Akure,.

“We believe is completely outrageous for a public servant of his caliber.

“We advise the ICPC and EFCC to beam their searchlight on the activities of this outgoing Chief Justice of the state”, the statement reads.
