Obiano reads riot acts to criminals, launches Operation Udoka

Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state on Friday read the riot acts to criminal, especially Okada riders who terrorise and rob residents to relocate if they want to remain alive.

Governor Obiano who spoke during the launching of 2017 Anambra Ember Month Security Initiative tagged “Operation Udoka” said however those whose lives are not dear to them can remain in the state.

He said the operation was a non-nonsense operation, saying that the members of the team should deal ruthlessly with criminals but polite to the law abiding citizens of the State.

He said the security team will maintain 24 hours patrol in all parts of the State including difficult parts of State.

Obiano said the team was composed of 125 specially trained security personnel, including plain clothes who will gather information on the criminals and their activities.

Obiano who vowed to be part of the patrol team asked Ndi Anambra to come home and enjoy the security of the State, saying “come home with your best cars. Come and display your wealth in your state. We will secure your lives and property. Now you have energised me, I will keep awake to ensure you sleep” he said.

Continuing he said “this is an opportunity to warn criminals to stay away from Anambra so that they will not spend the Christmas and New year in jail”.

Earlier in his speech, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Garba Umar, stated that the launch was another effort of the Governor to secure the state this yuletide period.

“This explains the meaning of Operation Udoka. We started the operation during the election till now.

“For the past 11 months the security operatives have done much to the state and we also assure the people of peaceful Christmas and New Year celebration” he said

Speaking, the Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG, zone 9 Umuahia, Mr Karma Hassan, commended the people for the peaceful conduct of the recent gubernatorial election which returned the incumbent Governor without any lost of life.

He also commended them for being united adding, “No wonders Anambra remains the best on security
