Non registration, renewal of licences hamper NAFDAC activities in Taraba

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has said that its operations in Taraba State were halted as a result of non compliance by business men and women in the State to register their products.
The NAFDAC State Controller, Muyideen Suleiman stated this while briefing the Media in Jalingo, the State capital.
Suleiman who expressed dismay over what he met on ground when he assumed office as the State Controller in 2016 said it took the mercy of series of meetings he had with Stakeholders from the State that NAFDAC was able to attain its feat presently in 2018.
“When I came here towards the end of 2016, I was not happy with what I met on ground”,
“A good number of our victims were either not registered, even those who were registered refused to do the mandatory renewal of their Licences”, he said.
He added that Marketers of Agricultural and Industrial Chemicals, Marketers of Animal Medicine (Veterinary Medicine dealers) all fall under the same category.
According to him, NAFDAC does not only register the Products but also monitors under which the products were being stored, and the conditions of sales to the final users.
“We also ascertain if the Products are the genuine ones that were initially registered by NAFFDAC.
While expressing joy over the present state of affairs as it concerns NAFDAC in Taraba since January 2018 till date, Muyideen Suleiman said,
“2018 has been a very rewarding year for NAFDAC and Stakeholders in Taraba”.
The Controller further revealed that defaulters of NAFDAC rules are faced with ‘Administrative Charges’ or Prosecution at the Court of Law’.
