Nigerian University Commends, Honours Ambassador Yusuf Adamu

Federal University Dutse, Jigawa State has named its Students Centre after its pioneer Registrar Ambassador Yusuf Adamu, the Garkuwan Dutse. The edifice is now known as Yusuf Adamu Students Centre.
The university had earlier written a commendation letter to Ambassador Adamu for his meritorious service and quality leadership while in the institution.
According to a letter written and signed by the university’s Registrar M. Bukar Usman dated 20th March, 2018 which Daily Times is in possession of, Yusuf Adamu was so honoured because of his amiable disposition and simplicity in handling matters concerning students.
According to the letter, the 2nd Governing Council of the university approved the decision to name the Centre after Yusuf Adamu at its 8th meeting that took place on Thursday 1st March, 2018.
In an earlier letter titled “Commendation for Meritorious Service and Leadership,” dated 23rd February, the Vice Chancellor of the university Prof. Fatima Batul Murktar, on behalf of the Management, staff and students stated that the landmark achievements of Ambassador Yusuf Adamu will speak beyond his life time.
“During this period, the Registry and the university at large were incubated and developed into full fledged form with a commendable level of competence and versatility. In deed your tenure was characterised as that with unparalleled integrity, open mindedness, all inclusiveness, innovation, passion for excellence and professionalism.
“Your achievements have epitomised you as one of the great leaders in our era. It is unarguably evident that your laudable contributions towards the development of this university would speak beyond your life time,” the Vice Chancellor stated, adding that it was a rare privilege to be associated with Yusuf Adamu while praying God to bless his future endeavours.
Ambassador Yusuf Adamu was appointed the Director General of the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre (CLTC) and resumed there in February 2003. Following his outstanding performance which saw to the transformation of the Centre and bringing it national limelight, he was reappointed to serve another term which ended in February 2011.
After successfully completing a total of eight years as the boss of CLTC, the Federal Government appointed Ambassador Adamu as the first Registrar of the then newly established Federal University Dutse on 15th February 2011, a few days after his exit from CLTC.
He served in that capacity up to 15th February, 2016 after which the governing Board of the university extended his stay by one year, leading to his exit on 17th February, 2017.
