N4m Scam: EFCC docks Oyo Permanent Secretary

The Ibadan zonal office of the EFCC, has arraigned a Permanent Secretary in the Oyo State Ministry of Agriculture, for allegedly defrauding one Ibikunle Alonge of N4,400,000.

The Permanent Secretary was arraigned before Justice Aderonke Aderemi of the Oyo State High Court on Wednesday, May 13, 2020, on one-count charge of obtaining money under false pretence.
The offence is against Section 1 (2) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006 and punishable under Section 1 (3) of the same Act.

Also the trial of Kenny Martins who is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for alleged N7.74bn Police Equipment Fund, PEF, fraud has been rescheduled till June 30, 2020.

But the April 28 date was not feasible in the light of the shutdown of courts by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad, following the lockdown in force in Abuja and many other parts of the country to curb the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
