MSMEDS retreat debuts in Abia as Ikpeazu sues for talent dev’t, descent living
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has charged Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Scheme in the state to aim at the sky so as to achieve the needed economic empowerment.
Speaking at Women’s Development Centre, Umuahia, the state capital, while declaring open the maiden retreat of the Abia State Technical Board for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Scheme, Ikpeazu said the essence of promoting and championing Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises was to encourage Abians to develop their talents and earn living through it.
According to him, he looked at how the artisans were working with bare-hands and decided to introduce to them modern shoe-making and fabrication.
He congratulated them on their graduation from training and assured that government would continue to support them.
Also speaking, Chairman of Abia State Technical Board for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Scheme, Chief Theo Nkire, thanked the Governor for championing the made-in Aba products and making Abia the hub of MSMEs in Nigeria.
He said the Governor had earlier provided N100 million take-off grants for the graduands and noted that over one thousand participants have graduated from the entrepreneurial training.
The Chairman of the occasion and Vice Chancellor, Abia State University (ABSU), Prof. Uche Ikonne, represented by Prof. C. O Emerole and the representative of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Osha Elisha, thanked Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, for his interest in developing and empowering young men and women in the state.
