Minister assures manufacturers of Abuja industrial land allocation
The FCT Minster, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello has stated that his administration will allocate plots of land in the Abuja industrial zones to only genuine manufacturers that have the capacity to develop them for the purpose it is allocated for, within a stipulated period. Bello dropped this hint in his office recently in Abuja, while playing host to a delegation of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) led by its president, Dr. Frank Jacobs. The Minister appealed to MAN to help woo investors to come and invest in Abuja, assuring that his administration will make Abuja friendly for the manufacturers. He said; “We need industries to lubricate our economy and to also help generate employment for the citizenry.” He promised to strengthen a department in the FCT administration to serve as a focal point for MAN to create the desirable synergy, revealing that the FCT administration will later in the year organize economic summit to discuss how to move Abuja forward. He assured the manufacturers that his administration will look into the problem of multiple-taxation. Earlier in his speech, the president of MAN complained of multiply taxation, calling for harmonization of taxes in FCT. He urged the minister to provide more infrastructure to the Idu Industrial Zone, explaining that infrastructure is the major factor that would attract more manufacturing activities.
