Maku urges electorate to protect their votes to avoid rigging

Nasarawa state, Mr Labaran Maku, has called on the electorate to protect their votes on Feb. 23 and March 9 elections to avoid rigging. Maku made the call on Wednesday while addressing supporters in Tudun-Uku, Nakuse, Loko Goma communities in Toto Local Government area of the state. According to him, the call became imperative given what the people in the state experienced in the past when election results were manipulated. “Electorate, this time around must not vote and go home and sleep like it was in the past. “If you vote on the election day, you should stay and follow the process until the final result is announced. “Everybody who vote should follow up from polling unit to ward, to the state capital until the person that win is declared,” he said. Maku, therefore, called on members of the international community to beam their search light on the state to prevent rigging. The APGA gubernatorial candidate, however, urged the electorate to vote peacefully and shun violence before, during and after the elections. He promised to embrace people-oriented projects across communities in the state if elected governor. Maku also promised to ensure adequate protection of lives and properties if given the mandate. Mr Adams Gwamna, the APGA House of Representatives Candidate for Nasarawa/Toto Federal Constituency, promised not to disappoint the people in his constituency if elected. Gwamna called for the support and votes of the people in the area and the constituency at large to enable him win the election. (NAN)
