Mahrez: No pressure on ambitious Leicester!

Leicester winger Riyad Mahrez insists there is no pressure on his side, after the Foxes opened up a five-point lead in the Premier League on Saturday.

Mahrez’s 15th league goal of the season was enough for Leicester to beat Watford to extend their lead at the top.

However, Mahrez was substituted towards the end of the second-half, after pulling up while breaking forward. He did indeed pick up a slight hamstring strain, but is expected to be fit for Leicester’s next game against Newcastle on March 14.

However, the Algerian international says the team are simply enjoying what they are doing, and not letting anything get to them.

“We’re just enjoying. There’s no pressure, we’re not nervous; we’re just playing like we do always. The football goes quick – nine games left – we have to keep focused and concentrate on our game,” Mahrez said.

“We have to keep going like that because at the moment we’re doing something very big and special and we have to keep our feet on the ground then see what can happen.

“We feel very good, not just me but everyone.”

In a close game at Vicarage Road, both sides missed good openings, before Mahrez pounced on a poor Jose Holebas clearance to fire the ball into the net.

Watford had frustrated the league leaders and kept Mahrez largely quiet in the first-half, but the 25-year old insists he always had confidence that his chance would arrive.
