Lagos State University has emerged the Best School delegation at the just concluded 9th & 10th Nigerian International Tertiary Institutions Model United Nations (NITIMUN) Conference held in Abuja.
The five-day International Conference with the theme, “Tackling Unemployment and Youth Involvement in Cyber Crime,” was held from Saturday, December 2 to Wednesday, December 6 December, 2017, at the GMR Lifestyle Hotels, Mabushi, Abuja.
The delegation from the Lagos State University was outstanding at the robust Committee sessions, general meetings and various presentation sessions.
Aside the Best School Delegation Award, the delegates equally won 12 other distinguished awards which include Best six Committee Awards, Most Valuable Delegate Award, 3rd Overall Best Female Delegate, 2nd Best Female Delegate, 2nd Best Male Delegate, Rapporteur and Award for the Outstanding Staff Adviser at the Conference.
With this development and achievement, the Lagos State University has joined the League of schools who have won the Best School Delegation Awards at the NITIMUN Conference.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Fagbohun unofficially received the winning team in his office on December 8, 2017, and promised on behalf of the University Management to have a grand reception for the team in January, 2018.
He said: “All of you have done the University proud, I won’t be saying much now. We will receive you properly at the right time. You have made us proud.
This achievement must be celebrated in the University Annual Report. Your pictures will also be in the 2018 University Calendar. The achievement will open doors of scholarships for you”.
He further commenced Dr. Henry Hunjo, Acting Dean, Students’ Affairs, Dr. Oluwafemi Obayori; Principal Assistant Registrar, Students’ Affairs; Mrs. Omolola .O. Dosunmu and Mr. Olaniyi S. Jeariogbe, for the teachings, mind molding, and adequate preparations provided for the Delegates to achieve the great feat at the International Conference.
NITIMUN is an academic exercise where students assume the role of ambassadors of member countries of the United Nations and extensively deliberate on current global issues.
It gives Students the brilliant opportunity to view and understand issues from different perspectives, get acquainted with and appreciate different people and Cultures, learn to proffer credible and acceptable solutions to identified national and global problems.
