Lagos Police Destroy Hard Drugs Worth Over N15m

The Police have destroyed seized hard drugs worth over N15m at Lagos Taskforce Yard, Ojota and the officer in charge says this is just the beginning.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Edgal Imohimi is bent on ridding Lagos state of drug peddlers.

On Tuesday, he destroyed seized hard drugs worth over N15m at Lagos Taskforce Yard, Ojota and he said this is just beginning.

The seized hard drugs contained Arizona drugs, S.K Kong, Indian hemp and Codine and were destroyed on the orders of the court.

“You will recall during the town hall meetings I held that I promised to rid Lagos of drug peddlers.

“This exercise is to clamp down on drug peddlers and also to assure members of the public that our youths have no access to hard drugs.

“Drug fuels crime and deviant behavior which is why the police have decoded to rid every nook and cranny of the state of hard drugs.

“Amongst the hard drugs to be destroyed is Codeine which is supposed to be a cough syrup. Codeine can be gotten easily at any pharmacy which makes it worrisome.

“We hereby urge all pharmacist to sell the cough syrups only to those with doctor’s prescription.” he said at the dump site.

Imohimi added that the command had partnered different groups especially the Student Union Government (SUG) not only to fight cultism but to put an end to sales and consumption of hard drugs on campuses.

The Lagos State Police Command had on October 5 recovered 38 bags of Indian hemp worth over N20m during a raid on suspected hideouts in Akala, Mushin.
