Lagos council chair, Apatira assures constituents on Sanwo-Olu Free Daily Meal Stimulus Program

…writes council residents on adherence to directive on Covid-19

As second phase of the Sanwo-Olu Free Daily Meal Stimulus Program enters its fifth day, the Executive Chairman of Itire-Ikate LCDA, Hon.(Dr.) Ahmed Olanrewaju Apatira has set structure in place to improve on the existing structures and modalities of the established nine distribution points to cater for more residents in the council.

The COVID-19 Daily Kitchen Stimulus Program for the youths, less privileged, vulnerable is a programme designed by the governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, directed at mitigating the pains of residents, as the bad effect of COVID-19 lockdown in the state leaves untold hardship on residents.

Baring in mind the ongoing fasting by the Muslim faithful, Dr. Apatira ensured the scheduling of the free daily meal continues to accommodate them by rotationally making provision for evening catering at some points, as the ramadan1441 reaches one-third mark and counting.

The executive chairman appealed for continuous adherence to directives of health professionals around the world; maintaining social distancing, washing of hands regularly with soap under running water, avoidance of all form of public gathering, staying at home and staying safe.”

The chairman also in an open letter to his constituents urged them to assist the government in its race to defeat the coronavirus by playing their role in the process of defeating the virus.

According to him, “it is no longer news that the gradual easing of the cumulative lockdown in Lagos State as announced by President Muhammadu Buhari starts Today, Monday, 4th May, 2020.

“Our collective race against further spread and hopefully eliminating permanently the dreaded Covid-19 pandemic presently ravaging the world from our communities cannot be compromised by all and sundry.

“It is also pertinent that we do not jeopardise all the huge sacrifices of the Presidential Task Force (PTF), Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Frontline Workers and other essential personnel by adhering strictly to all the precautionary measures; avoiding crowded places, maintaining social distancing, keeping personal hygiene by washing our hands regularly with soap under a running water for at least 30seconds and most importantly staying at home.

“Furthermore, I strongly advise our market women, private organisations workers, NURTW, commercial bus operators, eateries and other related services to ensure strict compliance with the directives of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu on guidelines of movement within the state metropolis.

“It is imperative to state that the officials of Itire-Ikate environmental, health services and waste management has been mandated to ensure no member of the society contravene any of the laid down rules and regulations associated with Covid-19 during this partial easing of lockdown, while defaulters will be dealt with accordingly by the appropriate quarters.

“Moreso, it is an open secret that the fight against further spread of coronavirus is enormous and tasking, in the light of this, I urge you all to wholeheartedly support the initiative of Governor Sanwo-Olu on *#MaskUpLagos* with compulsory wearing of a face mask if you must go out of your house in order to minimise the chances of contracting the deadly virus.

“Finally, as a responsible government, let me sincerely assure you that all necessary mechanisms put in place to guide against the spread of coronavirus within our communities are still much in place and I extensively appeal for your continued support towards achieving a pandemic free society and go back to our normal way of life,” he said.
