The commissioner, who did not give accurate figure of the contract sum for the project, said the contractor had already taken over 50 percent of the contract sum.
According to him, the termination of the contract would serve as a warning signal to other contractors handling various ongoing projects in the state.
“Any contractor that fails to work in line with specification and vision of the state government will not be paid”, the Commissioner warned.

In a swift reaction, the contractor handling the road, Mr. Kayode Osho, who spoke with the Daily Times in llorin on Sunday, said he had not abandoned the project as alleged but was unable to go back to site following refusal of the state government to pay him a sum of N21m for the completion of the road project.
“I have a certificate of N21million since three years ago which was refused to be paid by the state government which incapacitated me to complete the job”, the contractor said.
Osho said that he had borrowed money from a commercial bank for priming and commencement of asphalt over laying on the road without payment from the state government since over three years.
