Elevated to the halls of legends, John Oboh’s music brought together a community and united them under the banner of a unique music production.

There have been many artists who have gained a lot of success in the music industry, but none have possibly matched John Oboh’s legacy. His studio happens to be the first digital studio in Lagos, Nigeria.

Not only did he produce Daddy Shoki and Daddy Fresh songs that shot them to fame in the 90s, but his studio brought to fame the likes of Babafryo, African China, Danfo Driver, Marvellous Benji, and Orisa Femi amongst others.

This man is one of the greatest African music producers in the history of African music, with his unique creation of a music genre, that has come to stay just like Fela’s Afrobeat.

Though his personal life was full of many intrigues and challenges his belief in himself and his deep passion for his style of music creation made it possible for him to represent, train, and promote those who longed for music they could identify with. A style of music with an African edo samba beat with the infusion of Jamaican Reggae.

Popularly Known as Mighty Mouse John Oboh is the music godfather of Ajegunle City. He created Agegunle, a Music genre using ancient Esan samba beat and other African percussions which he later infused with reggae music, that has come to be known and recognized as Galala music.

His creation of the Ajegunle music genre; in the 90s, was an instant success and was appreciated by many. John Oboh’s Galala music genre spread over the years all over Nigeria, African countries, Europe, all the way to America, and beyond.

Mighty Mouse’s devoted life of creativity originated in Ajagunle in Lagos, Nigeria. And he became the foundation of inspiration that spread hope to the less privileged and upcoming musicians, and music engineers by donating his studios to train, encourage, and promote them without charge.

John Oboh was born on 25th April 1967 into the Family of Chief Major Humphrey Etafo Oboh from Ugboha, Esan, Edo State, and Chief Mrs Comfort Eimiebaluye Oboh nee Obhiemie from Emu Kingdom, Esan, Edo State, Nigeria.

The family moved to Agegunle in 1971 after living in Oshodi, Surulere, and for a short time in Benin City.

John Oboh who is the 5th child of his parents was so much loved by his family.

John attended a local Government School in Olodi Apapa and later moved to Trinity Secondary School and Local Government Secondary School, Ajegunle.

He studied music in Dublin, Ireland

Roxbury Community College
Boston, Mass USA.

He established Jahoha studios with support from his elder sister Mabel Oboh and Mother Chief Comfort Oboh an Agegunle Matriarch.

Produced in his Jahoha studios renowned Scottish Musician Piper Norman Macleod’s music such as
Scottish Essence, African Mood & Step Up Tempo, and videos in collaboration with renowned producer/director Femi Lasode and legionary artist, Nike Davis Okundaye of Nike Art Centre, Lagos Nigeria.

The executive producer was Josephine Oboh-Priddy.

Oboh also created The Repatriation sound/ Movement which he promoted with his family music by encouraging black people who were forcefully taken out of Africa to come back home.
