Joe Igbokwe: In Maiduguri, did you notice the crowd? At your peril, disregard Buhari’s popularity

For the first time since the COVID-19 Pandemic in Nigeria, some Nigerians were astonished to see Buhari live in front of a large crowd.
Many have questioned his health in the past, with some claiming that his frequent trips to the United Kingdom for medical checkups have rendered him unfit.
The President, on the other hand, proved them wrong while visiting troops combating insurgency in the North East in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.
He also took use of the occasion to commission several projects in Borno. Joe Igbokwe, an APC member and Special Adviser to Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwolu on Drainage Matters, is ecstatic with the massive audience that gathered in Maiduguri to cheer Buhari.
The Nnewi-born politician, according to a statement on his official Facebook page, questioned people if they observed the crowd in Maiduguri yesterday. He went on to say that anyone who dismisses Buhari’s celebrity and popularity does so at their risk.
I saw some of the pictures of Buhari’s visit to Maiduguri on social media and I can confess that the crowd was massive.
It reminded me of the crowd that came out to welcome him when he was in Maiduguri in 2015 to campaign for votes. Some of the youths of Maiduguri carried placards with the inscription ” PMB we love you”.

Others stood inside a truck with Nigerian flags just to see the President. The one that captured my attention most was some boys who poured water on themselves as a sign of love and celebration that PMB is in Maiduguri.
Anyhow one looks at it, it appears majority of the people in Maiduguri are happy with Buhari and his administration.
