Insurgency: Army Boost Personnel Intelligence On Counter Insurgency

The Nigeria Army on Monday task personnel to be equip with the Intelligence Preparation on the Battle Space (IPB), in other to meet with the current challenges on the growing insurgency in the various parts of the country.
Speaking at the opening ceremony at the 5 days training programme, organised to boost security personnel intelligence on counter terrorism and insurgency, the Acting General officer Commanding 3 Division Nigeria Army, Brigadier General Elvis Njoku, stated that the training is imperative as personnel could be called upon to lead troops to quell the growing trend of the insurgency either in the South- South region were we have the Niger Delta Avengers, or the South-East, with the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB), or the North-East with the Boko Haram terrorist group.
According to him “The training is timely, considering the security problems facing most regions of the Country with Boko Haram in the NorthEast, Cattle rustling and clashes between Fulani headers with farmers in the middle belt, IPOBs in the East as well as the current Niger Delta Avengers blowing up oil pipelines in the Southern region”.
In a 40mins presentation on the readiness of personal to confront any battle, Colonel Abdulraham Kuliya noted that the Nigeria Army would have worn the battle against Boko Haram long before now if only the army had understood their enemy better.
However about 150 participants are drawn to attended the training, from the military, paramilitary organizations and human rights commissions as well as other security agencies within the Division area of responsibility.
The programme is currently being held at 3 Division Army Headquarters, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment Rukuba Barracks in Jos tagged ‘Operations Planning Cadre’.
