INEC issues certificate of return to APC senator-elect in Bauchi

Samuel Luka, Bauchi

The All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Bauchi South Senatorial District, Senator Lawan Yahaya Gumau has finally received his certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after weeks of legal tussle between him and another APC aspirant, Ibrahim Zailani. ‎

Recalled that INEC declared APC winner of Bauchi South Senatorial District, but declined to mention who was the recognized candidate of the party.

Receiving his certificate in Abuja, Gumau said his victory during the election and at the court was “an act of God” and made possible by the support he enjoyed from the people of his constituency who prayed fervently for him.

Addressing journalists in Bauchi, the Personal Assistant to the senator on Political Matters, Sulaiman Lalaye, said his second return to the National Assembly justified that he is with the people and the people are with him.

He added that this would serve as an opportunity for the senator to carry out more constituency projects that would impact positively on the lives of the constituents.

“He will ensure that he fulfils all his campaign promises he made to the people during his campaigns and even do more because the people stood behind him during the court case instituted by his brother, Ibrahim Zaillani challenging his victory at the primary election. ‎

“Sen. Lawan explained in confidence that he will join hands with the leadership of the 9th National Assembly and President Muhammadu Buhari to bring development to Bauchi state,” Lalaye added.
