Independence Anniversary: Cleric charges Nigerians on productive capability

‎As the nation is preparing for the celebration of its 57th independence anniversary, Nigerians have again been charged to develop the ability to be productive, to build a strong and virile country.

A cleric, Pastor Ademola Popoola, gave the charge on Monday in his sermon at the anniversary service organised by the Kwara State Government held at the English Chapel, Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church, Ilorin District Headquarters.

Pastor Popoola who spoke on the topic ‘Nigeria Arise To Your Hope,’ taken from the book of Isaiah Chapter 60 verse one called on Nigerians and the government to arise and build good structures for the development of the society and individual.

The cleric stressed the need for good leadership and sound followership in the task of building an egalitarian society.

He challenged Nigerians to arise to move forward, do what is right at all times, depart from corruption that had seriously affected the nation‎ and embrace the word of God.

Pastor Popoola noted that to be independent means to be free from external domination and have self competence‎ adding that man was created with freedom to take dominion of all creation by giving him competence to do so.

The cleric urged the people to love their neighbours and have good connection with God their creator.
‎Addressing the congregation, the Kwara State Deputy Governor, Elder Peter Kisira, expressed gratitude to God for his mercy on the nation in the last 57 years despite the various challenges affecting it.

Elder Kisira who was represented by the State Head of Service, Mrs. Susan Dupe Oluwole, ‎expressed gratitude to the Christian Community and the people for their prayer, support, understanding and cooperation advising them not to relent in their prayer as government strive to meet the yearnings, hope and aspirations of the people.

The Deputy Governor called on the people to pray for their leaders to get it right for the good of the Nation and embrace the spirit of tolerate and harmonious ‎relationship.

He stated that Nigeria had witnessed ‎agitation in high magnitudes which had further strengthened the corporate existence of the nation.
Elder Kisira noted that the State had been stable, ‎peaceful and making progress due to the cooperation of the people calling on them to use the period to celebrate and move closer to God.

The special church service which witnessed thanksgiving, prayer for the State and the Nation was attended by political office holders, top government functionaries including the State Commissioner for Environment and Forestry, Otunba Taiwo Joseph, Permanent Secretaries, Special Advisers and Assistants.
